To learn about sponsorship opportunities
On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, we will be celebrating LEDA’s 15th anniversary and honoring Arun Alagappan, Founder of Advantage Testing and the AT Foundation, and Scott M. Stringer, New York City Comptroller. We will also hear from our Guest Speaker, Lisa Opoku, a Partner at Goldman Sachs. LEDA’s annual event provides an opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments and meet some of our amazing Scholars in person.
Arun is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Princeton University and a graduate of Harvard Law School. In 1986, Arun founded Advantage Testing, Inc. and has been serving as its President since. Advantage Testing is a wide-ranging academic tutorial and educational counseling service for individuals of all ages. For 30 years, Advantage Testing has provided financial aid and pro bono instructional help to a variety of individuals, schools, and public service organizations, and Arun founded the Advantage Testing Foundation in 2007 as part of his commitment to making educational services accessible to students of every background.
Born and raised in Washington Heights, Scott was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1992, where he represented Manhattan’s West Side for 13 years. In 2006, he became Manhattan Borough President and was elected Comptroller in 2013. Over the last two decades, Scott has been a champion for policies like a $15 minimum wage, has advocated for affordable housing, worked to strengthen the City’s fiscal health, and promoted open, transparent government. Scott has also made a reputation as a ground-breaker in the world of diversity as the City’s first-ever Chief Diversity Officer.
