What We Do

Career Network

The LEDA Career Network provides high-achieving, low-income students at selective colleges with career exploration, professional development, and related resources to support them as they navigate their career pathways.

Since 2003, the LEDA Scholars Program has been a national model that positions the next generation of leadership to gain admission to and succeed at the nation’s top colleges. The LEDA Career Network extends our leadership development efforts that currently run from high school through college by addressing the impact of income inequality in the area of career development. The new initiative enhances our current model and also broadens our reach by including other high-achieving, low-income students and preparing them to lead in a broad array of professional pathways. LEDA Career Fellows include both LEDA Scholars and their peers, and the 2017 Fellows come from 39 states and have demonstrated success in both their academic and leadership pursuits.

At the LEDA Career Institute, Fellows engage with more than 20 employers, receive coaching from seasoned professionals, learn about careers opportunities in a broad range of industries, and develop the professional skills needed to navigate the job search process. LEDA is honored to have partnered with leading employers in 2017 to expand career opportunities and offer professional development to the LEDA Career Fellows.

After the Career Institute, Fellows receive ongoing support with pre-career exploration, career planning, professional development, and employer engagement throughout their college years.

My education was invaluable, but what I learned outside of the classroom was just as important for my success. The Gerstner Family Foundation is pleased to support the LEDA Career Institute to give LEDA Career Fellows the skills and tools that are essential for the professional world.
