A Tribute to Beth Breger

As announced in late 2019, Beth Breger will depart from LEDA this week after more than a decade of service as Executive Director. As we prepare to welcome our next leader, Dr. Lamont Gordon, we also celebrate Beth’s extraordinary tenure.

LEDA Scholars share their reflections on Beth’s impact

Beth has led all of us in building LEDA into a nationally recognized powerhouse dedicated to developing the next generation of diverse leaders in our country. Since 2009, LEDA has grown to serve five times as many students, increased the organizational budget fourfold, and launched the following initiatives: College Success, Career and Alumni Services, and the Policy Project. And LEDA’s many accomplishments under Beth have received national attention from outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, PBS NewsHour, CNN, and the Washington Post.

We will all miss Beth deeply. Her commitment to LEDA’s mission and community, especially our Scholars and Career Fellows, has inspired all of us. From weekly fro-yo socials during the Aspects of Leadership Summer Institute to Thanksgiving dinners with LEDA Scholars who couldn’t make it home, Beth has touched countless lives.

Beth Breger fully embodies the LEDA Core Values: Excellence, Integrity, Compassion, and Community. On behalf of the LEDA Board, staff, and the entire LEDA community, we express the most profound gratitude to Beth for all the ways – big and small – that she has enriched LEDA for over a decade.
