August Note from the Executive Director: Closing Out Our Fiscal Year with Our Career Institute

 

As we wrap up an extraordinary summer of programming, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible network of supporters who make LEDA’s transformative work possible. From our generous donors and corporate partners to our dedicated Board members and inspiring program alumni, your continued investment in educational equity is creating ripples of change that extend far beyond what we could have imagined.

 

 

Our Cohort 21 Scholars were scarcely on their way back home before we welcomed another group of students, this time at NYU Law School where we hosted our week-long Career Institute. In just five action-packed days, our talented Career Fellows, rising sophomores and juniors from 47 institutions, engaged in skills building activities, professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and corporate site visits that will serve them throughout their educational and professional journeys.

 

The energy and determination of our Career Fellows was palpable as they navigated complex case studies, participated in mock funding pitches, and built meaningful connections with professionals and industry leaders. Watching them grow in confidence and clarity about their future paths (and NYC subway routes!) reminded us why LEDA’s mission is so vital.

 

 

Our Career Institute also featured an Alumni Mixer, an incredible opportunity that allowed our current Career Fellows to meet and mingle with our LEDA Alums. This casual networking event was an important reminder of one of our core values: Community. We are honored that so many members of our Alumni Network participated in this event, and in the Career Institute overall, and continue to support our LEDA Community.
