LEDA Celebrates Two Decades of Excellence

NEW YORK, NY – May 2, 2024 – Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA) marked its 20th anniversary with a record-setting celebration on May 1, raising an unprecedented $1.3 million to support its mission of empowering young leaders from under-resourced backgrounds. The Annual Celebration, held at the Edison Ballroom in New York City, honored distinguished members of our community and showcased the achievements of LEDA Scholars, Fellows and Alumni.

This year’s honorees included Tony Yoseloff, executive managing member at Davidson Kempner Capital Management; Ilana Goldman, chair of the LEDA Board of Directors; and Philomina Kane, an inspiring LEDA Cohort 8 Alum, successful entrepreneur, and founder and CEO of KIN Apparel.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to showcase both LEDA’s incredible accomplishments over the past 20 years as well as exciting initiatives to come. Guests had the opportunity to learn about LEDA’s deep connection and fruitful partnership with Princeton University, which not only hosts LEDA’s cornerstone Summer Institute, but is also the alma mater to honorees Tony Yoseloff and Philomina Kane and to LEDA’s Executive Director, David Garza. Attendees also celebrated LEDA’s newly launched collaboration with Yale University, which, for the first time in 2024, will host the final week of the Summer Institute.

The event was made possible by the generous support of key corporate sponsors, including Davidson Kempner Capital Management; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP; Jefferies LLC; and Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.

David Garza expressed his gratitude and reflected on the significance of the event: “Tonight is not just a celebration of LEDA’s 20 years of impact, but a vibrant testament to the tremendous talent within our Scholar Community and the profound generosity of our supporters. Each year, this event helps us propel the next generation of leaders who are set to change the world. We are immensely grateful for the ongoing commitment of our donors, whose support is crucial in advancing our mission.”

The gala not only highlighted the successes of past and present LEDA students and alumni but also set a robust foundation for the future, ensuring that LEDA continues to be a beacon of leadership and educational excellence for years to come.
